Crossing the Seine in the centre of Paris, the Pont des Arts is the first metal bridge in the capital, it connects the Quai de Conti at the Institut de France, to the Quai des Tuileries which runs alongside the Louvre Palace. It was in the 19th century that a footbridge of nine arches was built. The footbridge is a real innovation since it is built-in cast iron, a first in Paris, and that it is reserved for pedestrians. Napoleon Bonaparte asked two engineers to design a walkway resembling a hanging garden over the river, adorned with shrubs, benches of colourful flowers.

Did you know that the bridge of the arts collapsed in 1979 following the shock with a barge? It was then rebuilt between 1981 and 1984, identical except that now it has seven arches instead of nine.

The Pont des Arts is a symbolic place of Paris, you can get inspiration there and see new stories. It is a place that will be remembered for the rest of my life.

With my partner Laura, we spent our afternoon taking pictures and watching people stroll along the bridge. Elegant, traditional that seemed unchanged over time. There was an air of passion and a quest for exclusivity, which dates back to the 19th century. Since the 1900s, the bridge has become an essential place to welcome artists, photographers and writers. It’s something you can really feel when you are there. The dark wood of the time-worn planks reminds you of the number of people who had sat in this exact spot over the years. Unchanged since its creation, the Pont des Arts remains today a classic scene of artist and romantic moments. We took the opportunity to sit down, sip and enjoy the atmosphere that surrounded us.

We spent our day in Paris looking for the best places to shoot, but we also took the time to get lost. We always think it’s essential to have a flexible schedule because we know that even the best plans don’t still work the way you want. Some of the best places I had found while in a different country have been the times when I wandered. It is an excellent way to immerse yourself in the local culture.

Tell me, do you agree with this principle? Leave me a comment here. 🙂 I would be delighted to read from you.

Send you a Lots of love!

Happiness & Simplicity, Jessica

??Coucou toi !

Enjoy to share travel stories, Jessica
