Last summer I had the pleasure of staying at the Domaine de Marlioz, a chic wellness retreat in Aix les bains near the lake of Bourget. A relaxing atmosphere fills me from the entrance hall, where you will find elegant Scandinavian furniture, raw materials, inspired by the four natural elements. The general manager of the hotel, Gilles Saint-Marcel, shared with me every intention brought to the details of the representation, water, air, earth and fire that the decoration highlights. He manages the magnificent 60-room property, situated on a 10-hectare estate which includes a natural and historic thermal spring and a 15th of beehives. Interestingly enough, he makes his own honey and distributes it to guests and other hotels on the property.

At the end of the day, I often found myself wandering around the estate at the end of the day for no other reason than to enjoy the outdoor fitness trail, the rich colours and the view of the mountains.
My favourite room is the Nuxe spa lounge and its terrace, a naturally heated pool and unique massages to relax and read a good book in the softness of the setting sun. This relaxation transports me effortlessly to mental and physical well-being. I never thought a hotel could relax me so much. It is a haven for creative souls.
I remember a simple but poignant exchange I had with Patric read when he gave me a tour of the hotel and its grounds. I could feel his use of colours, furniture with natural materials, eco-responsible actions and I wrote down his soft tones and intentions in my travel journal. One sentence stuck in my mind: “every room, from the bedroom to the bathroom you have a view outside, even if I am in a room, I feel like I am in the forest, all this invites us to breathe, travel and well-being”, Gilles Saint-Marcel confided to me.

L’été dernier, j’ai eu le plaisir de séjourner au Domaine de Marlioz, une retraite bien être-chic dans Aix les bains près du lac du bourget. Une atmosphère de détente m’envahit des le hall d’entrée, vous y trouverez d’élégants mobiliers scandinaves, des matériaux bruts, inspirer des quatre éléments naturels. Il y règne une atmosphère de détente, ce qui est normal, car chaque détail de la décoration intérieure t’y invite. Le directeur général de l’hôtel, Gilles Saint-Marcel, m’a partagé chaque intention apportée aux détails de la représentation, eau, air, terre et feu que la décoration met en avant. Il dirige la magnifique propriété de 60 chambres, située dans un domaine de 10 hectares qui comprend une source thermale naturelle et historique, et une 15e de ruches d’abeilles, fait intéressant, il fabrique eux-mêmes leur miel et le redistribue aux clients et autres hôtels de la propriété.
Je me retrouvais souvent en fin de journée à errer sur le domaine sans autre raison que de profiter du parcours de santé extérieur, des couleurs riches et de la vue sur la montagne.
Ma pièce préférée est le salon spa Nuxe et sa terrasse, une piscine naturellement chauffée et des massages uniques pour me détendre et lire un bon livre à la douceur du soleil couchant. Cette détente me transportait sans effort vers un bien-être mental et physique. Je n’aurai jamais pensé qu’un hôtel pouvait me détendre autant. C’est un havre de paix pour les âmes créatives.
Je me souviens d’un échange simple, mais poignant que j’ai eu avec Patric lu lorsqu’il m’a fait plaisir de me faire visiter l’hôtel et son domaine. J’ai pu ressentir son utilisation des couleurs, du mobilier aux matériaux naturels, des actions écoresponsables et j’ai inscrit ses teintes douces et ses intentions dans mon carnet de voyage. Une phrase me reste en mémoire : “chaque pièce, de la chambre à la salle de bain vous avez une vue vers l’extérieur, même si je suis dans une pièce, j’ai l’impression d’être dans la fôret, tout cela nous invite à respirer, voyager et aux bien être”, me confia Gilles Saint-Marcel.
