Girl en red, travel Storyteller share tips for slow travel
Hi there, I hope you had a great weekend!

French version below

Today, I share with you my vision of slow travel. It is the art of taking your time, leaving room for chance and the unknown, far from all organized, mapped out routes. A way of saying “look, everything is in front of you, go ahead and let the magic come to you”. It is also for this reason that my blog is in travel story format that will hopefully make you want to go explore the world. My best advice, don’t forget to lose yourself.

Slow travel is a different way of traveling, it highlights the way more than the destination. See less, and even better. The destination is only the skeleton of the journey, it is not the path, the one that will give shape to your trip. The path will create your best memories, your best stories, travel diaries.

Slow travel allows me to choose a different route than the one taken by everyone. It allows a total immersion in the environment, you savor the smells, you hear the birds in the trees, you feel the wind on your skin, the earth beneath your feet. The journey is physical and emotional. This gives us a more in-depth vision. When you immerse yourself in the everyday life of a place, you discover it differently … We spend time on the edge of a terrace drinking a tea while chatting with people from the region, or so we stay there to observe life take its course. Perhaps you will make some friends.

This slowness is to be available for the unexpected and for meetings. This is what happened to us in Amsterdam. One evening, we got lost in a district in the heart of Amsterdam, we are looking for a nice bar or to end our day with my darling. And, against all odds, we came across a typical Dutch bar where only regulars came. We had the most wonderful evening, talking, laughing and singing with the owner and getting them used to the bar. Beyond the fact that this bar was totally timeless, with its wooden moldings and decoration …. very special. 🙂

Live experiences that enrich you, and enlarge our vision of the world, open windows on realities to which we did not have access, not even awareness, is that not what we are traveling for?

my advice for living slow travel

1. Organize your own trip as a minimum, ie transport, hotel, information on the premises
2. Leave some room for improvisation
3. Stay a minimum of 3 days to experience life
4. Explore the region, far from the clichés of the destination
5. Go or no one goes
6. Meet new people
7. Consumes local
8. Keep it simple, enjoy every moment and notice the little things

Right now, I’m looking for my next destination and just like my many other trips I want it exotic, authentic and that leaves an unforgettable mark. And you, what traveler are you, slow travel or a person who likes to do tourist stuff? <3

Enjoy every little moment, Jessica

Profite de chaque petit moment, Jessica
